Easter Egg Hunt springs £1,500 for hospital charities

The Easter Egg Hunt took place on 25 March and the sunniest day of the year brought hundreds of families along to Sheldon Country Park to celebrate the beginning of the Spring season.

Amongst the fun activities was face painting, an ice-cream van, a bouncy castle and carousel and the farm with food stalls and small animals available to pet. The children, many of whom were painted as bunnies to match the theme, loved the egg hunt and activity sheet which sent them around the park, searching for clues to lead them to the delicious chocolate egg at the end! For the bigger kids, there was a 5K chocolate run, allowing people to work for their Easter treats!

As well as a fun day for many, the event raised over £1,500 for the Children’s Appeal, which is aiming to refurbish all of the children’s areas at Solihull Hospital, Heartlands Hospital and Good Hope Hospital. Funds were also raised for Solihull’s new chemotherapy day unit, through the sale of raffle tickets. The raffle, the winner of which will be announced on 31 May, gives people the chance to win a £2,000 cash prize, or a week’s holiday accommodation in Greece!

Samantha Howell, Fundraising Manager said: “Thank you to everybody who came along to the Easter Egg Hunt, the day’s success was down to all of you, showing up and getting involved! Thank you also to everybody who donated on the day, through raffle ticket sales, and buying Charity hoodies. We are already looking forward to next year!”
