Family of fundraisers raise money to support cancer patients

Daniel and Lauren Bright are currently fundraising for the Young Persons Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Daniel was a patient on the ward nine years ago and wants to give something back for the excellent care he received whilst on the ward.

Lauren is also fundraising at the ASDA store where she works, and raised a fantastic £144.84 by selling charity merchandise in store. Together, the couple have set a fundraising goal of £2000 and aim to reach this target by holding a charity evening in November.

The money raised will help support the Young Persons’ Unit, which treats cancer patients between the ages of 16 and 24. QEHB Charity supports YPU by funding patient comforts and services such as game consoles, DVDs, pizza nights, an academic teacher and three hours of dedicated physio every week.

Sophie Carroll, Fundraising Officer at QEHB Charity said “It is amazing to hear of the excellent care Daniel received as a patient, and so kind of him and his family to fundraise for the Young Persons Unit, especially with little Harry being one of our youngest fundraisers!”
