Friends raise thousands in memory of mum-to-be

A group of friends bravely climbed the three largest peaks in England, Scoltnad and Wales to raise money in memory of their friend and mother-to-be, Louise McVaddy, who sadly lost her life before giving birth.

The fundraising friends raised a staggering £7,492 for QEHB Charitry, which will be used to fund research into adrenal tumours.

Helen Waite, who took part in the event, said: “Louise and her unborn son, Michael, passed away suddenly on 12 June 2010. She was 30 years old and 32 weeks pregnant when she suddenly became very ill and was tragically taken from us.

“Louise had an adrenal tumour which no one, including herself, knew about.

“We decided to raise money for the Claire Khan Trust at QEHB Charity, to help support research into adrenal tumours.”

The kind-hearted friends climbed 10,000ft and walked almost 26 miles to conquer Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours.

Laura Power, Senior Fundraiser at QEHB Charity, said: “We’d like to say a huge congratulations to Helen and her friends for successfully completing the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge, and an even bigger thank you for raising such a fantastic amount in memory of Louise and Michael.”
