Fun day brings in huge amount thanks to liver transplant recipient

Jamie Moloney recently spent eight weeks at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham where he received an emergency liver transplant during a traumatic time for him and his family. Now, as he continues his recovery, he has raised an incredible £2,505 for QEHB Charity.

Jamie and his family decided to hold a fun day at Holly Lane Sports and Social Club to give something back to the hospital that saved Jamie's life. The event was a great success, and the fantastic amount of money that was raised will be split between the critical care team and the Liver Foundation.

QEHB Charity supports the work of the critical care team, pictured above with Jamie and his family, by providing 'added extras' that are over and above that which the NHS is able to provide.

The fun day has spurred the dedicated Jamie on to plan even more fundraising events in the future, saying: "It was great to be able to raise so much money for QEHB Charity. When I'm fully recovered I would love to take on the Birmingham Half Marathon to support patients at the hospital."

Justine Davy, Head of Fundraising at QEHB Charity said: "Jamie is an inspirational fundraiser. He has had a tough time and has been through an awful lot. To come out of that and throw himself into fundraising is a wonderful thing. The thanks of the hospital charity go to him and his family for raising so much money."
