Fundraiser takes on running challenge to support elderly patients at Good Hope

Fundraiser Stewart Cook has raised over £200 to support Ward 9, one of the dedicated elderly care wards, at Good Hope Hospital. Stewart took part in a 10km race around Sutton Park and his fundraising is not going to end there as he will be taking on the Great Midlands Fun Run in Sutton Coldfield in June.

Stewart's inspiration to raise money for Ward 9 came after his mother-in-law, Sue Daly, was treated on the ward before passing away last year. Stewart said: "The palliative care that Sue received on Ward 9 was exceptional, the staff were incredibly supportive of my wife throughout Sue's treatment. I wanted to give something back to the hospital so decided to tackle some local running events! Good Hope has also cared for my dad so it's great to be able to raise money for our local hospital."

Fundraising Manager at Good Hope Hospital Charity, Laura Power, said: "Well done to Stewart for raising a fantastic amount of money after taking on the 10km run! I wish him the very best for the Great Midlands Fun Run and I look forward to seeing him on 3 June alongside the 75 other people who are taking part for Good Hope Hospital Charity. It's going to be a special event, especially as this year is the 75th anniversary of Good Hope Hospital."
