Fundraising Friday- Velo special!

This week brings you another Velo special edition of Fundraising Friday! We are saying a huge well done to a group of twelve surgeons, patients and their families from QEHB's Opathalmology Department who have so far raised just over £22,000!

Taking on the 100-mile bike ride are Drs Tim Matthews, Alastair Denniston, Simon Dulku, Andrew Jacks, Mike Burdon and Sarah Denniston along with members of their family. The team are hoping to raise funds to purchase sight-saving equipment.

The equipment, called an OCT scanner, will enable earlier detection of diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic eye disease by creating an ultrasound-like 3D image of the structures of the eye, this cutting-edge method of eye imaging means that for the first time specialists can see below the surface of the eye to see the microscopic structures beneath.

The twelve-strong team have almost hit their target of £25,000, if you'd like to help them get there, you can support them here:  https://www.justgiving.com/qehbeyeappeal
