Welcome to another edition of the Velo Special Fundraising Friday! This week we are celebrating a fantastic fundraiser, Stuart Turner who is cycling to raise funds for the Renal Unit at QEHB.

In 2012, Stuart donated a kidney to his wife, Rachael. Rachael was diagnosed with a degenerative kidney disease in December 2011, fortunately Stuart was found to be a perfect match and made the noble decision to donate his kidney just five months later.

He added: “I am a keen mountain biker and have ridden 50 to 60 kilometres but nothing like 100 miles on road so I’m swapping baggy shorts for Lycra.

Because of my love of cycling Rachael volunteered me for it really, but it’s a challenge and I’m in training and looking forward to it.”
