Fundraising Friday

This week’s Fundraising Friday celebrates the life of Sue Bishop, a radiographer who worked at Percy Road Health Centre and later at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, who sadly passed away in November 2014 following a stroke.

Sue’s colleagues, Eileen Tracey, John Findlay, Sharon Williams, Tracy Jenkins and Sxama Joshi along with other members from the Imaging team were very fond of Sue and wanted to do something to remember her, and felt that sponsoring a fruit tree on the site of the hospital she loved would be a fitting tribute.

Eileen said: “We invited those colleagues who knew Sue to make donations, and were delighted at the amount of money we collected in a very short time.

“We heard that charities were planting some fruit trees and saw it as a perfect opportunity to honour our late colleague.”

The Imaging team were so successful in their collection for Sue that they were able to honour her love of dogs by sponsoring one from The Dog’s Trust.

“When we looked at the website to see which dogs were in need of sponsorship, Percy just seemed heaven sent – his general scruffiness, and of course the fact his name was the same as the Health centre where Sue worked sealed the deal!”
