Fundraising Friday

Fundraising Friday is an opportunity for QEHB Charity to say thank you to our fundraisers who go over and above to raise money for patients, staff and facilities at QEHB.

This week the Charity is giving a huge shout out to Slim’s Café in Erdington who have raised a whopping £1,283 for Fisher House in support of military patients and their families at QEHB. The café held a number of community events to raise the grand sum, including a fun day with face painting, a man versus food challenge, and staff fancy dress. The team at Slim’s also ran a raffle and received generous prize donations from local businesses.

John, owner of Slim’s Café said: “We are really grateful to the local Erdington community for coming along and joining in in all of our events, our clientele are a really kind-hearted group of people who will always go out of their way to support charity events like this.”

Next up QEHB is congratulating Beacon Rise Primary School who raised over £2000 for the Liver Unit at QEHB after their teacher, Gareth Rhodes underwent a life-saving liver transplant in November 2016. Throughout the day the children-and staff- enjoyed a giant water slide, feet-painting and spaghetti play! Not only did everybody have a great day, but funds were raised for a cause close to all.

Mr. Rhodes said: “I am immensely proud of all the effort and hard work that went into making the day so much fun. The care I received from QEHB during my stay was outstanding and I am really happy that we were able to give something back.”
