On Saturday 12 October 2019, the annual Giles Trust ball took place at Edgbaston Stadium, attended by stars of sport, stage and screen from Birmingham and beyond, helping to raise money for research into brain tumours.

This year, The Giles Trust's theme was ‘Strictly Come Giles’, guests dug out their sequinned clothes and put their best foot forward to dance the night away all in aid of fundraising for the The Giles’ Trust, supported by QEHB Charity. The Giles’ Trust was set up by Managing Director for England Men’s Cricket Ashley Giles and his wife Stine after Stine was treated for a brain tumour at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

The event included a drinks reception, three-course meal, raffle, and silent auction for over 300 guests. A live auction, led by the fantastic Jonny Gould, also took place, with incredible prizes on offer, including holidays to Lake Como, Thailand and more!

Dancing was performed by Broadway Dance School, BOA Academy and Base Studios which received 10’s across the board from all the guests! Dancing continued after the performances thanks to the disco set led by Phil Upton, compared by Tom Clarke-Hill.

The guests included friends of Ashley and Stine such as British actor and comedian, Adil Ray, UB40’s Brian Travers, BBC’s Nick Owen and cricketer Jim Troughton
An incredible £89,000 was raised in total, thanks to the generosity of those who organised and attended the ball.

This has been the most successful event of The Giles’ Trust balls to date. The first was held back in 2015, in celebration of the charity’s launch, and themed around the 1980s.
