Good Hope Madwives get gold at the Building Healthier Lives Awards

At the Good Hope Hospital Building Healthier Lives Awards this year, the Charity recognised three lots of people who have dedicated their time and effort to help the hospital charity.

The Building Healthier Lives Awards aims to recognise staff, volunteers and charity supporters of the University Hospitals Birmingham Trust who are building healthier lives through their commitment, ingenuity and determination.

This year, Mark Chambers from the Chemotherapy Day Unit, Good Hope Madwives from the Maternity Team, and Friends of Good Hope Hospital were all nominated for the ‘Charity Supporter of the Year’ award.

All of the fundraisers at the hospital help the Charity work towards the goal of bringing ‘added extras’ to the hospital for patients, staff and families, and going ‘over and above’ that what the NHS can fund for the hospital.

Mark Chambers is always taking part in a fundraising activity to help raise money for the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Good Hope Hospital, and will always rope in members of his team, family and friend to help him fundraise.

Friends of Good Hope Hospital support so much across the hospital, helping patients, families and staff. They have achieved amazing success over the past 12 months including gaining charity of the year partnerships with two Sainsbury’s stores.

But the ones who won the gold award this year are the Good Hope Madwives as they call themselves! The team of 36 midwives from the Maternity Team took part in the 8.2 mile Sutton Fun Run this year to help raise money to improve the services for expecting mothers and their families. The group raised hundreds of pounds for the Charity to help provide those ‘added extras’ for new mothers and their families.

Laura Power, Fundraising Manager for Good Hope Hospital Charity, said: “A huge congratulations goes to the Good Hope Madwives for winning the gold award, and also to Friends of Good Hope Hospital and Mark Chambers who won the silver and bronze awards.

“Everyone who won an award all do so much for the Charity and help us go over and above for patients, staff and families at the hospital, we wouldn’t be able to fund added extras without you.”
