Group of friends reach dizzy heights in fundraising campaign

A group of friends from Birmingham decided to take on the daunting ‘3 Peaks Challenge’, a gruelling 24-hour hiking event where participants climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon in close succession.

A range of charities were supported by this plucky group who called themselves the ‘Ross Vegas Summit Seekers’, such as Lymphoma Research Trust and St. Michael’s Hospice. The other charity supported was ‘Mike Cullen Cancer Research’, an appeal at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

Craig Allen, one of the fundraisers, said: “Last year, we lost a dear friend Leeanne from a rare adrenal cancer, and the Mike Cullen Cancer Research fund was her chosen charity.”

The group raised an incredible £1281 for QEHB Charity in memory of Leeanne. Sian Averill, fundraising officer at QEHB Charity said: “We were all moved by the various stories of members of the group as to why they were taking part in the 3 Peaks Challenge. We want to congratulate all of them on completing this feat and thank them for the amazing amount of money raised for Mike Cullen Cancer Research here at the QE.”
