Health Care Assistant raised money with group for Heartlands Children’s Appeal

David Bailey, a Bank Health Care Assistant on the children’s wards at Heartlands Hospital, worked a few shifts at the hospital before deciding he wanted to raise money to help improve the children's wards.

David went back to his group, Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes – Northfield Lodge 9330, and said he wanted to raise money to help make the children’s wards at Heartlands nicer for the children who have to get treated there.

The group chose to purchase some items for the children on the wards so they would have more things to do whilst they were waiting for appointments or receiving treatment.

They raised a huge £240 which bought a television, Nintendo classic game console and a mega drive classic game console which both have lots of built in games that are suitable for all ages to play.

Sabrina Hussaine, Fundraising Assistant for Heartlands Hospital Charity, said: “Thank you so much to David and the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes – Northfield Lodge 9330, who have raised a huge amount of money which has bought the children on the ward a television and some games that are suitable for all ages to play.

“Activities like these on the wards are so important for children when they are being treated at the hospital as it can be a daunting place for some of them. Having activities for them can help them feel more comfortable and less stressed about their treatment.”

Aasim, who is 15 years old, is one of the children on the ward who is already benefitting from the equipment purchased by the money donated and is enjoying the games that are now available for him to play.
