Hepatitis Van project is a success!

The Hepatitis Van project helps to provide Hepatitis B, C and HIV testing and Hepatitis C treatment with a view to eliminating the disease and helping hard to reach communities.

The Van not only helps people in Birmingham but the team travel all across the West Midlands.

We spoke to Lisa who is a Hepatitis Clinical Nurse Specialist who works out in the community. She said, “Having the Van is incredibly beneficial for our patients, it allows us to come to them and give them the care and attention they need. People can be a little wary to come into hospital for their appointments so being able to have the ability to be out in the community means we can treat more people. Our patients tell us if it wasn’t for the van, they wouldn’t have sought treatment. We have even had nurses from other hospital trusts come to see how we’ve made the project work so well so they can implement this in their own region.

Thanks to our generous supporters UHB Charity was able to fund the The Hepatitis Van project so we can continue to care for some of the most vulnerable in our society.
