HSBC Volunteers make a difference at the hospital

A group of volunteers from HSBC have been busy working at Solihull Hospital to mark the bank's volunteering day. 15 volunteers made themselves useful around the hospital, selling cakes and raffle tickets, and cleaning up the stroke unit garden.

The team have been busy fundraising alongside their voluntary work and, thanks to generous match-funding from HSBC, have raised a fantastic £3,500 that will go to support Solihull Hospital Charity's campaign to raise £150,000 to help fund the new chemotherapy day unit.

Samantha Howell, Fundraising Manager at Solihull Hospital said: "The Charity's thanks go to the amazing team from HSBC who have worked so hard across the hospital. It is great to see a group of people throw themselves into voluntary work in the way that the team have. Be it selling cakes or clearing up and tidying a garden, they have been happy to throw themselves into any task.

"The fantastic amount of money that they have raised will enable Solihull Hospital Charity to reach its £150,000 fundraising target to help fund the new chemotherapy day unit at the hospital, which will increase the number of patients who receive chemotherapy treatment at the hospital. The unit will be a state-of-the-art unit, with its own entrance and garden, and it will be a tranquil and quiet place for low-risk patients to receive cancer treatment."
