It's raining toys at Solihull Hospital

Two large donations of toys have been gratefully received by the Children’s Outpatients Department at Solihull Hospital in recent weeks.

Birmingham-based Arconic, which produces steel for the aerospace industry, and Tesco in Monkspath, have both made deliveries of toys to the department.

Richard is Charity Officer at Arconic and with his partner, Helen Rooney, being a staff nurse at the Children’s Outpatients Department at Solihull, he felt it was a great opportunity to give back to the local community.

Richard said: “As part of the community team at Arconic, it is my job to ensure Arconic employees get involved as much as they can by giving back their time, efforts and skills to deserving organisations and charities.

“Community service is a vital part of the Arconic culture and we are proud that many of our employees give to the community 12 months of the year. Employee teams contribute time, energy and skills to community programs and projects to help local non-profit organisations.

“The money towards the toys was kindly donated from the committee I run here at the Kitts Green plant but also from the plant manager Jim Wallace’s pot of funds.”

Tesco in Monkspath have also made a special delivery of toys to the Unit recently as part of their community work.

Justine Davy, Head of Fundraising at Solihull Hospital Charity, said: "We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Arconic and Tesco for their generous support of the hospital, and would like to thank them for their brilliant generosity."
