Khan family raise funds to support the Eden Suite

On 12 July 2017, Sania Khan and Adil Khan sadly lost their first-born son Rehan Khan. During this horrific time, Heartlands Hospital’s Eden Suite was there to provide the support that the couple needed. To say thank you for the care they received there, the couple fundraised a spectacular £1,003.57 towards the suite to help other grieving families during such a difficult time.

The Eden Bereavement Suite cares for those families who sadly lose their baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death. The unit provides a peaceful and private environment for parents in their time of need. Reflecting on their time at Eden Suite, Sania said: “When we lost our beautiful first-born, in what seemed like a horrific time, the Eden Suite was very caring and provided unimaginably helpful facilities. The nurses were very sensitive and accommodating.”

Adil said: “What we will never forget as a family and individuals is the level of care, compassion, support and time Heartlands Hospital gave us and in particular Eden Suite. They went above and beyond in what I would regard as the biggest test any parent can face. The affection, devotion and dedication they showed towards us was exemplary and not only did they help facilitate the needs of our family but they helped with the funeral and burial arrangements. I will always be grateful to Eden Suite and want to take this opportunity to reassure parents that the Eden Suite nurses and doctors aren't just medical experts but are what I call family. Thank you for being there for me and on behalf of our beautiful son Rehan Khan, thank you.”

Sania continued: “A few years later after giving birth to our beautiful baby boy Subhaan in 2018, I decided to set up a fundraising page on JustGiving to show a small token of gratitude towards Heartlands Hospital. I wanted other parents to have the same, if not better facilities to help them get through difficult times. I also wanted to teach Subhaan that in life there will be ups and downs but the hard times are the ones that make us stronger. I want to say a big thank you to my lovely family, friends and all the generous people who donated towards the cause. Losing Rehan was painful but hopefully, he is proud of his mummy.”

Adil then concluded to say: “I am ecstatic at being able to raise money for such a wonderful cause and hope that the donations raised will help and facilitate the needs of the hospital and its staff. A heartfelt thank you from the bottom of my heart and 12 July wasn't just the day we lost our son but it was also the day we made a new family in the name of Eden Suite.”
