Kind-hearted college inspired to fundraise

The kind-hearted staff and pupils of Smith’s Wood Sports College raised £527.15 for QEHB Charity’s cancer appeal from holding non uniform days last year.

After a member of the college’s staff saw Mo Akhtar, a patient of the Young People’s Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, fundraising for our Cancer Appeal in Burton Shopping Centre, the college decided they would fundraise for the same cause. The dedication and determination of Mo was an inspiration.

Brett Roberts (pictured) said: “It really was a ‘win win’ situation, as the pupils love non uniform days and are raising money for a great charity simultaneously.”

Sian Averill, Fundraising Officer at QEHB Charity said: “We are incredibly grateful to Smith’s Wood Sports College for their very generous donation. It will make a huge difference in our ongoing fight against cancer at the QE.”
