A kind-hearted patient on the Young Persons Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham has raised over £1,000 for the unit that has been treating her.

Mena Jones, aged 18, raised money for YPU by choosing to hold a fundraising birthday party. People paid to attend the party, and food was kindly provided by Mena’s family and friends. Mena also raised money through holding a raffle at the party.

After raising an incredible £1,770 for YPU, Mena presented the cheque to the unit on Wednesday, 23 March. Sian Averill, Fundraising Officer at QEHB Charity, said: “We are incredibly grateful of Mena’s selfless fundraising. To turn her 18th birthday party into a fundraising initiative shows just how much she cares for her fellow patients and the staff working on YPU. On behalf of QEHB Charity, I want to thank Mena for her generosity in the face of personal adversity.”
