Locals called to #RunForBrum in next year’s first ever Brummie marathon

QEHB Charity is calling for the people of Birmingham to enter the Birmingham International Marathon in 2017 to benefit patients at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. To be staged for the first time on Sunday 15 October 2017, the Birmingham International Marathon will cement the city’s position as the European Capital of Running.

The 26.2-mile event will be the first of its kind to hit Birmingham and will kick off at Alexander Stadium, the home of British Athletics. The course of the run, which will take place on the same date as established half marathon the Great Birmingham Run, will take in a number of the second city’s most iconic landmarks before finishing in the city centre. This will not only be a great event for British elite runners, but perfect for runners of all abilities from the UK and beyond.

With music lining the route and themed miles celebrating the cultural diversity of Birmingham, you have a chance to be part of a little piece of history. This will be a celebration of all that’s great about Birmingham!

General entries are now open and if you enter both the 2017 Great Birmingham 10k (which takes place on Sunday 30 April) and the 2017 Birmingham International Marathon you will receive a £10 discount on your entry.

Running as part of the QEHB Charity team gives you access to training hints and tips for the race, a pre and post-race reception at the Hyatt hotel, fundraising materials, and one of our fabulous running tops! Find out more at runforbrum.org or by emailing laura.power@uhb.nhs.uk

Don’t forget to let us know you’re taking part on social media using our hashtag #RunforBrum!
