Long-term patient raises money for Ward 19

A long-term patient at Heartlands Hospital presented a cheque of £1,000 to Ward 19 after hosting a ‘fun day’ in her garden.

Helen Jenner has been receiving treatment on Ward 19 and for the past four years has hosted a ‘fun day’ in her garden to raise money for the hospital charity.

With a £5 admission fee, guests get a buffet lunch and refreshments, with raffle stands, cake stalls and games to play.

The day is advertised through her friends and family and also around Ward 19, allowing patients and staff to go along too.

Sabrina Hussaine, Heartlands Hospital Charity Fundraising Assistant, said: “On behalf of the Charity I would like to say a huge thank you to Helen for continuing to raise so much money for the Charity which will go towards providing ‘added extras’ for patients on Ward 19.”

All the money raised is split between Macmillan and Ward 19 at Heartlands and Helen said she is “so thankful to all the staff on the Ward” and that she enjoys giving something back.
