Mother and Son set to race for QEHB Charity!

Earlier this year Rachel Brown took part in the Simplyhealth Great Birmingham Run, this October she isn't the only member of the Brown family that is participating in the event!

Rachel Brown, back in May of this year, completed the Simplyhealth Great Birmingham Run in an astonishing one hour and 39 minutes raising £225 for the Cardiology department at QEHB. On Sunday 14 October Rachel is participating again in the Simplyhealth Great Birmingham Run but this time she will be joined by her son, Jackson.

Whilst pregnant with Jackson, Rachel received numerous pregnancy related complications from cardiac issues. Rachel said: "I am raising money for the cardiac department at QEHB, as a family we are very grateful for everything they have done for us. They supported me through a difficult pregnancy".

After watching his Mummy complete the marathon, Jackson wanted to follow in her footsteps by completing the Junior and Mini Great Birmingham Run to raise money for the Cardiology department that helped him and his Mummy. He has been training very hard, attending weekly park runs with Rachel which he really enjoys, Jackson said: "I want to complete the run and I am very excited to cross the finish line and get a medal!" So far Jackson has raised an amazing £35!

Rachel Learmonth, Senior Fundraiser at QEHB Charity said: “This is an amazing challenge that Jackson has set himself, especially for his age. I look forward to following his progress, well done Jackson!”
