New Lord Mayor supports military patients

Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity is delighted to announce that Birmingham’s new Lord Mayor has chosen to support Fisher House for the coming year.

Coun Ray Hassall began his new role this month, and has offered to support Fisher House alongside three other charities: Cancer Research UK, MS society and Birmingham Trees for Life.

Fisher House, a ‘home away from home’ for military patients and their families, just yards from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, will benefit from the Lord Mayor’s generous support through various fundraising events and activities set to take place throughout the next 12 months.

Head of Fundraising at QEHB Charity, Justine Davy, commented: “We are honoured to be chosen by the new Lord Mayor. It is fantastic to have his support.

“We are looking forward to working together to raise as much money as possible for the many military patients and their families who stay with us at Fisher House.

“Although families stay at the home for free, it costs QEHB Charity £25 a night to accommodate them. The Lord Mayor’s support will really help us raise awareness of the need for Fisher House.

“We are hugely grateful and would like to thank Coun Ray Hassall once again for his support.”
