Provincial Grand Lodge of Warwickshire makes donation of £34,500 to support patients

The Provincial Grand Lodge of Warwickshire has made an incredible donation of £34,500 to University Hospitals Birmingham Charity in response to the Charity’s urgent COVID-19 appeal. This generous donation will help to fund tablets for patients across the Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull hospitals.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 University Hospitals Birmingham Charity has been urgently appealing for funds to provide a range of support to staff and patients across its four hospitals.

Due to the pandemic, patients cannot receive visitors at the hospital. Being in hospital is rarely easy, but being unable to see their loved ones has left patients feeling low, which in turn can delay recovery and discharge from hospital.

To combat this, University Hospitals Birmingham Charity has been funding tablets for patients across its hospitals so that they can communicate with their loved ones via video chat, helping to bring families closer together - albeit virtually - at this difficult time.

The Provincial Grand Master of Warwickshire, Right Worshipful Bro. David F. Macey, said: “At this challenging time it is crucial that we all do our part to support our NHS hospitals and the patients who are treated there.

“As the Head of Freemasonry in Warwickshire I am proud of the generosity shown by our members at this difficult time. This donation will make a great deal of a difference to patients across University Hospitals Birmingham, helping to give them contact with their loved ones whilst they are in hospital.”

Laura Power, Fundraising Manager at University Hospitals Birmingham Charity, said: “On behalf of all of the staff and patients across our hospitals I would like to thank the Provincial Grand Lodge of Warwickshire, and in turn all of the Warwickshire Freemasons for this generous donation.

“This donation will help us to support our patients by funding tablets for use across our hospitals. The tablets that we’ve already distributed across our sites have already made a huge difference, and the further tablets that this donation will fund will help even more of our patients to speak to their loved ones.”
