QEHB Charity Memory Walk huge success
On Sunday 21 May, a fantastic group of QEHB supporters, led by Activities Coordinator, Joanne Bubb took a walk down memory lane, to raise awareness of and funds for the Elderly and Dementia appeal at QEHB. The 5k walk took place on the grounds of QEHB, taking in the beautiful green spaces that the hospital has to offer.
Kicking off the walk was a fabulous team of Zumba instructors providing an energetic warm up, and BHBN Hospital radio kindly volunteered to provide the soundtrack of the day, as well as broadcasting live throughout!
Fancy dress was optional but recommended, and people didn’t disappoint! Sharon Harper, from Imaging won ‘Best Fancy Dress’ in her 1940s inspired Land Girls outfit!
Joanne said: “It was great to see so much support from all over the hospital, such as Clinical Research and Imaging. It’s great to know that all the money raised from the walk will go towards our patients at QEHB, that kept us motivated on the way round.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank QEHB Charity, all of our volunteers and my events volunteer, Shelly Showell who made this event possible.”
Sophie Carroll, Fundraising Officer at QEHB said: “We are so grateful to everybody who came along to this fantastic event, we were lucky to have the sun shining and the help of BHBN and other volunteers. It was great to see so many people coming together to fundraise for the Elderly and Dementia appeal, providing ‘added extras’ above and beyond what the NHS can fund.”
