QEHB Travel Club - Buckingham Palace

The QEHB Travel Club has been set up by QEHB Charity Supporter John Sims MBE with Hollywood Travel, and its first outing took place early in August with a trip to Buckingham Palace.  The event was a sell out with a packed coach enjoying a great day out despite a few downpours!

The profits from the trip along with a raffle held on the coach raised a fabulous £510.  This donation has been allocated to the Opthalmology Department who are raising funds to purchase a brand new piece of equipment for the department.  The OCT scanner will enable earlier detection of diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic eye disease by creating an ultrasound-like 3D image of the structures of the eye, this cutting-edge method of eye imaging means that for the first time specialists can see below the surface of the eye to see the microscopic structures beneath.  The photo below shows Mr and Mrs Sims along with Cheryl from Hollywood Travel presenting a cheque from the QEHB Charity Travel Club to members of the Opthalmology Team.

The next trip for the QEHB Travel Club takes place on 21 September and will be a coach trip to Nottingham including an afternoon river cruise on the Trent including afternoon tea. There are also trips planned to Windsor Castle, Worcester Christmas Victoria Fayre, lunch at Symonds Yat, lunch at Holme Lacy House in Hereford and a four day Lille Christmas Market trip.  More info can be found on our Events Page.

Huge thanks to John and all at Hollywood Travel for their support of QEHB Charity.
