Staff member inspired to raise funds for military families at QEHB

Nursing Auxiliary, at QEHB, Gabriela Villarreal-Macias, has raised a fantastic £336 for Fisher House.

Mexico-born, Gabriela's, Brummie husband was in the 2nd Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers before being forced to leave due to injury.

The arty fundraiser raised the funds by making poppies in felt and satin and selling them for £1 to colleagues and friends.

Gabriela said: "I went to a Remembrance parade and I realised how much the Armed Forces mean to my husband, and to Britain as a nation and it inspired me to raise money for military patients and their families at Fisher House."

Rob Williams, Fundraiser at QEHB said "Thank you to Gabrielle for thinking of Fisher House over the Remembrance period. Your donation will help the Charity to continue to provide added extras to military patients and their families at QEHB."

Fisher House is a ‘home away from home’ for military patients at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and their loved ones. This means that when military patients are being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, their families can stay at Fisher House. To learn more go to fisherhouseuk.org
