The OPA donate substantial support to Newborns in Need Appeal

University Hospitals Birmingham Charity is thrilled to announce our new charity partnership with The OPA - The Online Property Agency!

The OPA is a family business rooted in serving their local community. As part of their commitment to giving back to the people of Birmingham, we are thrilled to have received a substantial donation of £15,000 for our Newborns in Need Appeal. Each year Good Hope Hospital and Heartlands Hospital care for thousands of babies some of whom are born up to four months early and weigh as little one pound. An average of one in ten newborn babies need the support of the Neonatal Units  across Good Hope and Heartlands. The unit also takes babies from across the whole region. The Neonatal Units  provide  24 hour care using dedicated breathing machines, incubators and state of the art monitoring machines.

UHB Charity aims to support the unit in providing the most advanced medical equipment, over and above NHS Funding. UHB Charity also aims to provide mothers and families with the ‘added extras’ that they need to ensure that their stay on the ward is as comfortable as possible by providing soft furnishings such as comfortable feeding chairs and prematurity packs with items new parents might need.

Mike Hammond, Charity Chief Executive, said, “Thanks to this incredibly generous donation from The OPA we are able to provide vital support to parents of premature and poorly babies going through some of the most difficult and stressful times of their lives. The support of The OPA means we will be able to give the best care and support available to our smallest patients. We are very grateful for The OPA’s dedication to making the lives of their local community happier and healthier and are proud to be their charity partner.”

Zara from The OPA said, “The OPA are passionate about working with and giving back to our local community. We are personally delighted to be working with University Hospitals Birmingham Charity and the Newborns in Need Appeal  is a cause we feel passionately about helping . This marks the start of our charity partnership, helping those in need and we aim to encourage others to help support this fantastic cause. This incredible charity plays a vital role in our community, so we wanted to make a positive contribution to the communities we serve to help make a real difference.”
