Will you be the winner of this year’s Breast Cancer Raffle?

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) is proud to offer a number of cancer treatments that are sadly not readily available on the NHS. As a charity, over the years with the help of our fundraisers and donations we have been able to provide our patients with advanced pieces of medical equipment for breast cancer, ensuring that the hospital continues to be a centre of excellence for cancer care.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women in the UK. It is estimated that one in eight women will develop breast cancer over the course of their lives. QEHB Charity’s Breast Cancer Appeal is aiming to further improve the quality of care that patients with breast cancer receive at the hospital. This October is Breast Cancer

Awareness month and QEHB Charity’s aim is to continue with our mission to go ‘over and above’ for patients who are battling breast cancer, providing them with ‘added extras’ that make their time at hospital more comfortable and in some cases, lifesaving. Last year the Charity achieved its staggering £400,000 target in order to fund for the new DIBH machine that is a specialised piece of equipment for left-sided breast cancer patients.

As part of our Breast Cancer Appeal, we are launching this year’s Breast Cancer Raffle. If you count yourself as lucky and want to be in with the chance of winning various goodies from a meal for two at The White Swan in Stratford-upon-Avon to two tickets to any show at the Hippodrome then why not buy some of our raffle tickets, the best is that they only cost £1 each!

Last year, our winning raffle prize was a luxury night at the Clayton Hotel, previously known as Hotel La Tour. The winners were Jenny Gillies and her mother Sue Boston. Jenny is a well-known fundraiser to the QEHB Charity as she has previously raised money for the Centre of Rare Diseases department, for the Kidney Patient group by putting on shows of her beautiful artwork and she has also took the time to stand with collection goblets in the main foyer of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham!

Back in August Jenny was struck with a serious bout of the CM virus, a virus that causes problems for transplant patients due to the anti-rejection tablets. Thankfully Jenny is beginning to get back to her normal self, she is currently a student at the Queen Alexandra College in Harborne studying creative media and even attended a trip to Zurich to take part in the Deafblind International trip along with so much more. With her busy schedule this was a well-deserved break for Jenny!

For your chance to win, purchase your raffle tickets here, or at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham’s Charity Fundraising Hub in the main atrium, alternatively you can purchase them from the Radiotherapy Department in the Cancer Centre or from the Breast Cancer Unit at Birmingham Women’s Hospital.
