Winners Chapel International makes generous donation of £25,000 to support NHS Superheroes

Winners Chapel International Birmingham has made a generous donation of £25,000 to University Hospitals Birmingham Charity’s NHS Superheroes appeal, helping to support staff and patients across four of Birmingham’s hospitals.

Winners Chapel Birmingham is based in Perry Barr and is a branch of World Mission Agency – Winners Chapel International. The Winners Chapel Birmingham wanted to make a donation to support the work of our NHS Superheroes and the patients that they are treating at this difficult time.

Pastor Emmanuel, the Resident Pastor at Winners Chapel Birmingham, said: “Winners Chapel International Birmingham, a branch of World Mission Agency- Winners Chapel International (WMA-WCI), as part of our Community Development Initiative is delighted to join forces with the Government and all NHS superheroes across the Midlands in the fight against COVID-19 through the donation of the sum of £25,000 to UHB NHS Trust through the University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) Charity.

“Our thoughts and prayers go to those who have lost families, friends and loved ones to this pandemic.

“This donation is only part of similar ones we have made across the country and we are confident that this donation will make a huge difference in supporting patients and NHS staff.”

Charlotte Schofield, Director of Fundraising at University Hospitals Birmingham Charity, said; “Our thanks go to Pastor Emmanuel and the community of the Winners Chapel Birmingham for this incredibly generous donation of £25,000.

“Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic we have been asking for support to help us to do more for our staff and our patients across the Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospitals.

“This amazing donation of £25,000 will help us to do so much more. We’ve been funding special staff welfare hubs, where they can go to spend their break time and relax in a comfortable environment. We’ve funded comfortable furniture, food and drink supplies and toiletries, along with mindfulness activities and games to help our staff relax.

“We’ll be using this generous donation to help us fund new welfare officers who will be working with our junior doctors to care for their mental health, helping to give more support to our hardworking staff.

“We’ve been using people’s kind donations to fund tablets for our patients, so they can speak to their loved ones via video chat at a time when they cannot have visitors, and we have also provided radios and activity packs for patients to keep them entertained.

“None of this would have been possible without the kind support of organisations such as Winners Chapel Birmingham. Thank you all.”
