Year 7 pupils raise money for loved ones on renal ward

Pupils from Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College in Worcester dedicated their fundraising efforts to the renal ward at QEHB after seeing the impact dialysis has on some of their families.

Kian, a pupil in the class, nominated the renal ward at QEHB as he frequently visits the ward with his father who is a patient there. Kian said: “I just want to help other people who are in the same state as my dad.”

Kian’s dad has been receiving dialysis for many years on the ward and after a number of recommendations of areas to fundraise for, they decided to donate the £315 they raised to the renal ward.

Rob Williams, a fundraiser for QEHB Charity, said: “A big thank you and congratulations to the Year 7 pupils at Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College. The students were very moved by the impact that dialysis had on their family life so chose Ward 301 to fundraise for.”

Their teacher Gaynor McClarey brought the students along to the hospital to present their cheque to the ward so they could see where the money they raised was going.
