Grandmother raises money for bereavement service after losing twin grandsons

Earlier in the year we brought you news that in May 2018 Sophie and Jordan Langstaff lost their baby twin boys at Good Hope Hospital and were treated and supported on the Snowdrop Suite, Good Hope Hospital’s bereavement suite, and were hosting a Butterfly Ball to raise a huge £20,000 for the bereavement service at the hospital.

Along with the ball, their family is now doing even more to help increase donations for the cause that is very close to their hearts. Sophie’s mom, Lisa Perks, has been helping out by doing fundraising events as well as organising the ball and selling tickets!

Lisa decided to run the Leicester marathon to help with fundraising and managed to complete it in four hours and 42 minutes in the pouring rain! All donations are being made to the same JustGiving page where the family are hoping to raise a huge £20,000 to support the hospital that supported them.

Sophie and Jordan spent some time on Snowdrop Suite so they could be with their babies, Fraser and Parker, who used the CuddleCots that are available on the ward, and the couple also received specialist support from the staff on the ward.

So far, the family have raised a huge £3,677 towards their target and hope that by the time their fundraising events are over, they will have raised £20,000!

Laura Power, Fundraising Manager for Good Hope Hospital Charity, said: “It is so heartbreaking that Sophie and Jordan lost their twin boys earlier in the year, but with their help and support through fundraising for the bereavement services at Good Hope Hospital, they are helping other parents who tragically may also go through this.

“Thank you to everyone who has been involved in the fundraising, and well done to Lisa for completing the marathon in such a good time!”

Tickets are still on sale for the Butterfly Ball which is taking place at the Abbey Hotel in Malvern on 2 February at 7pm. Tickets are £110 per person and include bed and breakfast, a Gala dinner at the ball, live entertainment, an auction and a raffle.
