Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre launches year of fundraising

The Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre will be supporting Heartlands Hospital Charity and Solihull Hospital Charity over the coming year, helping to raise funds to support two important projects at the hospitals.

The popular shopping centre will be holding a range of activities to encourage its visitors to donate to support two local hospitals. Centre Manager Neil Griffin said: “Each year we choose a charity of the year, and we always like to support a local charity that is making a difference in our area.

“Our visitors to the Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre are really generous in supporting local projects and always like to get involved whenever we put on a fundraising event.”

The money raised will be going to support the Incubator appeal at Heartlands Hospital, and the Children’s appeal at Solihull Hospital.

Heartlands Hospital Charity is raising money to bring seven state-of-the-art incubators to the hospital, helping to provide the very best care for the tiny, vulnerable babies who are treated on the Neonatal Unit.

Solihull Hospital Charity is raising funds to renovate the Children’s Outpatients Department, helping to create a light, bright and welcoming space for the thousands of children who are treated there each year.

Cheryl Damms, Marketing and Events Coordinator at Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre, said: “We’re going to be running a series of events throughout the year to raise money. We’ve already hosted some events, one which saw Peppa Pig come to the centre! We hold a range of seasonal events throughout the year, including Halloween events and we’re looking forward to our Santa’s Grotto event at Christmas.

“The shops around the Centre are always keen to get involved, being from this area we all know people who have been treated at Heartlands or Solihull hospitals so it’s great to be able to give something back.”

Sian Averill, Fundraising Manager at Heartlands Hospital Charity, said: “Our thanks goes to everyone at Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre for choosing to support the two hospital charities over the coming year. It is thanks to the generous support that we receive from the community that allows us to fund ‘added extras’ that are over and above that which the NHS is able to provide.
