Heartlands Hospital

Every year, over 76,000 children visit Heartlands Hospital’s Children’s Department.  Consisting of a Paediatric A&E, Children’s Outpatients Department, three Inpatient wards, and a High Dependency Unit, children aged between 0 and 18 receive treatment for a range of conditions.

From broken bones and allergies, to life-limiting and life-threatening conditions such as Cystic Fibrosis, Cerebral Palsy, and Muscular Dystrophy.  In addition, Heartlands Hospital is home to the regional centres for Neonatal services, Paediatric Neurological Disorders, and Paediatric HIV, caring for children across the wider West Midlands.

We continue to fundraise for our young patients to support them through their treatment at Heartlands Hospital; whether it's for a day or a number of months.

Many children’s lives are impacted by a variety of medical conditions, many of which will be lifelong and life limiting.  We need to make the Children's Wards and Departments child focused and child friendly so that our young patients feel welcomed and comfortable and interested in the activities going on around them rather than scared, bored or disinterested. It is vital we give both the child and their parents/carers as positive an experience as possible.

We now want to help the Outpatients and Physiotherapy Departments at Heartlands Hospital to make those areas more exciting and child-friendly for the tens of thousands of children who come for outpatient treatment, many times a year. We’ll also create bespoke play areas that will transform the way staff assess their young patients’ progress, making it more engaging for the child and staff member.

See below the different projects we have already funded at Heartlands Hospital.
