Solihull Hospital Children's Outpatients

Solihull Hospital Charity have refurbished the Children's Outpatients Department at Solihull Hospital.

The area was dull, uninviting and intimidating; adding to anxiety a child may feel about a visit to hospital, which in turn leads to more cancellation of appointments. We wanted to make the department a child friendly and happy atmosphere, where children are distracted and are not frightened about coming to hospital.

For the majority of our young patients, the Children’s Outpatients waiting area will be the first impression they have of Solihull Hospital.  Therefore, it is crucial they feel at ease from the moment they arrive.

Helen Rooney, Paediatric Nurse at Solihull Hospital’s Children’s Outpatients Department, said: “This has meant so much to the team on the unit. Ultimately, we want the very best for each and every child that is treated here; some children have lifelong conditions such as cystic fibrosis or diabetes which means we have to see them regularly for check-ups. We are thrilled to have a fun and playful area that is tailored for our patient’s needs in mind.”

To help us support more of our young patients, please donate at the top of the page. Thank you.
